Creative weaving: Creating texture weaving with finger controlled weaves
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at weaving, but have no idea where to start? In this 15 hour course (over 5 lessons) Marie from http://www.mariehandwovens.nl will guide you in your weaving in a small group of max. 5 weavers where you will be able to weave on a Kromski Harp or Presto rigid heddle loom (RH loom).
In this course you will learn things such as (but not necessarily in that order)
- Planning for a project
- Choosing suitable yarn
- Dressing your loom (that is setting up your warp to be ready to weave)
- Weaving
- Making a sample using finger controlled weaves such as
- Leno
- Danish Medallions
- etc…
- Sew a hem stitch to give your work a beautiful finish
- Solving issues that come up while weaving (this is my favorite part because this is where you learn the most)
- Finishing techniques
At the end of this course you will be able to choose yarn, plan a project and set up your own loom independently for simple projects and start weaving with confidence on a RH loom.

About

Hi, I am Marie, a textile artist and weaving instructor, located near Leiden, in the Netherlands. I have been a weaver for the last 8, almost 9 years now. I was introduced t weaving through a guild in England where I lived at the time. Shortly after weaving my first project with a small toy loom I got my first floor loom. A few years later, when I was pregnant I made a baby wearing wrap and it did not turn out as planned, so I decided to take a professional weaving course for a year and have been weaving daily ever since ( this was better than a Dutch course as it was also a weaving course – my Dutch is still a work in progress). Along the way I have been teaching to friends and family and recently decided to do workshops. I teach on rigid heddle looms (RH looms) as they are small, portable (they fit in my cargobike) and great for beginners to more advanced weavers.
